Dear Families,
We would like to begin the year by thanking families for the ongoing support and encouragement you give your children to attend school every day – on time, every time. Your commitment plays a vital role in building strong attendance habits, which are essential for your child’s learning, wellbeing and success at school.
In 2026, our college remains committed to partnering with families to prioritise regular school attendance. The reason is simple and well established: when students attend school regularly, their learning outcomes and overall well-being improve.
Last year, we set a whole-school attendance goal of 96% or higher. Many students achieved this and were recognised at year-level celebrations and school events, reinforcing the importance of attending school every day.
Families can check whether their child achieved 96% or higher attendance by:
- Checking your child’s Semester Report, where each subject includes a class attendance percentage
- Logging into Compass, selecting the Attendance tab, and viewing the term summary to see days absent
The graphic below shows:
- How many days a student can be absent and still meet the 96% attendance goal

We encourage families to use this information to support conversations at home and work with us to ensure students are present, engaged and ready to learn each day.
Throughout the term, we will share attendance tips on the Compass Newsfeed to help families better understand Fountain Gate Secondary College’s attendance policies and processes.
We understand that parents and carers may face daily challenges in getting children to school. If your child needs to miss school, please notify us as soon as possible via Compass or by calling the Hub Attendance line on 8762 6839, so we can work together to support your child.
Your sincerely,
Jo Cucchiara
