Attendance Expectations - Everyday Counts

At Fountain Gate Secondary College, we have high expectations matched with high support around attendance. Evidence conclusively tells us that when a student attends school every day their learning, engagement & wellbeing improve.

Fountain Gate Secondary Collage has a whole-school attendance goal of 96% or higher.

Families can check whether their child achieved 96% or higher attendance by:

• Checking your child’s Semester Report, where each subject includes a class attendance percentage
• Logging into Compass, selecting the Attendance tab, and viewing the term summary to see days absent

The graphic above shows how many days a student can be absent and still meet the 96% attendance goal.

All parents are required to give reasons for all absences on Compass.  When selecting a reason, parents should include a short explanation to help the school record the absence correctly.

If Parent Choice is selected, the absence will be marked unapproved until it is reviewed and approved by the Year Level Leader. Adding a short explanation helps with the approval process.

Enter the Absence in Compass

Call your child’s Year Level Hub or text the Hub mobile.
